Candle & Material Safety

At Bay Avenue Candle Co., we believe that high-quality candles should be safe to enjoy and kind to your space. Each candle is made with care, using clean, non-toxic ingredients and thoughtfully chosen materials.

Our Materials
  • Wax: We use a soy, coconut, and apricot wax blend. This premium blend provides a smooth, even burn and excellent fragrance throw. Our wax is always non-toxic and phthalate-free.

  • Fragrance: All fragrances are free from harmful additives and phthalates. We only use clean scents that meet safety standards for indoor use.

  • Wicks: Our wicks are lead-free and made from natural fibers for a steady, soot-minimized burn.

  • Vessels: Each candle is poured into a reusable glass vessel with a natural wooden lid. The lid includes a small silicone rim for sealing, which means it is not recyclable, but the glass vessel can easily be cleaned and repurposed.

Safety & Use

Each candle is hand-poured in small batches to ensure consistency and care. We recommend the following safety practices for all candle use:

  • Always trim the wick to ¼ inch before each burn.

  • Keep the candle on a heat-safe surface, away from drafts and flammable materials.

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended or within reach of children or pets.

  • Allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface on each burn to prevent tunneling.

  • Stop burning when about ½ inch of wax remains to avoid overheating the vessel.

Reusing Your Candle Vessel

Once your candle has finished burning, the glass jar can be cleaned with warm water and reused. Many customers repurpose them for plant pots, desk storage, or decorative containers. Please ensure all remaining wax and wick tabs are removed before reuse.

Transparency & Craft

Our candles are made by hand in Homer, Alaska. Because we operate in small batches, minor variations in appearance may occur — part of the charm of hand-crafted goods. We remain committed to maintaining clean, safe, and environmentally conscious production practices.
