Frequently Asked Questions
We know you might have questions about our handmade candles, shipping, or care tips, and we’re here to help. Each candle is poured with love in small batches in Homer, Alaska, and we want your experience with Bay Avenue Candle Co. to be simple, safe, and enjoyable. Please don't hesitate to contact us!
How do I care for my candle?
Trim the wick to ¼ inch before each burn. Burn on a stable, heat-safe surface away from drafts and flammable items. Never leave a burning candle unattended or near children or pets. Allow the melted wax to reach the edges of the jar on the first burn to prevent tunneling. Do not burn for more than four hours at a time and stop burning when about ½ inch of wax remains.
What are your candles made of?
Our candles use a soy, coconut, and apricot wax blend with phthalate-free fragrance oils and lead-free cotton or wood wicks. All ingredients are non-toxic, and our vessels are reusable glass jars with wooden lids.
Do you offer free shipping?
Yes! All orders over $100 ship free within the United States. Shipping costs for smaller orders are calculated at checkout.
How long will it take for my order to arrive?
All candles are hand-poured in small batches and made to order. Please allow 3–5 business days for processing before shipping. Because we are located in Homer, Alaska, shipping can take slightly longer than average. You’ll receive a tracking number as soon as your order leaves our studio.
Can I return or exchange my candle?
Because our candles are handmade and made to order, we do not accept general returns or exchanges once a candle has been opened or used. If your candle arrives damaged or broken, contact us within seven days of delivery with photos, and we will send a replacement or refund.
Who can I contact if I have questions?
